The Lodge

Located in Lane Cove, Lodge Tapas is a restaurant so good that even AFL legend Michael O'Loughlin has been there! The eatery is instantly inviting, as the very front contains a tempting display of freshly-baked muffins, banana breads, coffee bean bags, slices and cakes. The room also has a banquette, funky lamps, a cluster of green pot plants and exposed-brick walls, giving it a fresh and modern feel.

There’s something for everyone at Lodge, for any meal of the day. There’s even a special menu dedicated to ‘under 12s’, containing healthy options and smaller portions for kids. The casual restaurant’s Head Chef, “Sub” (note: that’s his nickname), is the genius behind the multi-cuisine food. A chef for thirteen years, Sub believes food is all “about coming together to share with family and friends."

The restaurant is also doing its part in encouraging sustainability by offering twenty cents off coffee for anyone who brings in their own cup, and only using Australian-grown produce. They also inspire a love for healthy eating by providing raw and sugar-free treats, and donating fresh produce to local primary school canteens (as part of our Be SEEDsational campaign).

Open every day.

Lodge House Salad (with shallow fried tofu)

We recommend getting this salad with some added shallow-fried tofu, from the lunch menu. Tuck in to enjoy crispy quinoa, flaked almonds, feta, and a delicious honey-mustard dressing! The demand for quinoa and tofu has risen sharply in recent years due to their health benefits. It is very creative that Lodge combines these ingredients with raw vegetables to make this dish. The salad is well balanced with lots of vitamins and minerals and different macronutrients, including low GI carbohydrates, protein, fibre and a small quantity of healthy fat. And what’s great is that the leftover ingredients from this dish are used for side salads in other dishes. The meal gained five Yummy Stars and is good for everyone, including vegetarians and those who are gluten-free.

Warm Wild Rice Salad

We also recommend this salad from the lunch menu. This recipe combines black and brown rice, vegetables, nuts, seeds, and an olive oil dressing. Unlike most vegetarian dishes, it offers low GI carbohydrates, fibre, plant protein, unsaturated fats, antioxidant vitamins, and minerals. This dish is beneficial to all consumers, particularly those with cardiovascular disease. Therefore, it is awarded five Yummy Stars.
